AWARDS

The SLOfit team has been fortunate to be recognised for their accomplishments and contributions throughout their many years of service. Below, you can find a few examples of awards presented to the SLOfit team and programme as a whole, and individual recognitions as well. The list below includes the year of award, title, and short description. Congratulations SLOfit team and members! 

SLOfit TEAM AND PROGRAMME 

2022 SLOfit team received the University of Ljubljana’s “Golden Plaque” award for best research achievements of a group for their research excellence over the 2020-2021 term  

2022 SLOfit team finalists in the #Be Active Award Across Generation Award from the European Commission of Education and Culture Executive Agency  

2022 The “My SLOfit” web application won first prize at the WEBSI Awards for best Login category. The WEBSIs are a Slovenian national competition for digital projects.  

2020 The SLOfit team’s research article entitled “Secular trends in overweight and obesity of Slovenian children” was named as one of the Top 10 Research Outputs from the University of Ljubljana for that year across all disciplines 

SLOFIT INDIVIDUAL ACHEIVEMENTS  

2022 Prof. Gregor Jurak was listed amongst the top 10 most-citied scientists in Slovenia, placing amongst the top 2% of scientists in the world according to a new Stanford University study. 

2022 Dr. Shawnda Morrison’s research article “Moving in a hotter world: Maintaining adequate childhood fitness as a climate change countermeasure” was the second-highest impact article in all of Taylor Francis publishing house (over 2,700+ journals!) for the month of August, including a special focus in TIME magazine.  

2021 Dr. Vedrana Sember was named by solomn charter the “Best Young Higher Education Teacher and Researcher” by the University of Ljubljana for that academic year.    

2021 Dr. Marjeta Kovač was recipient of the Stanko Bloudek Award for lifelong participation in sport. This is the highest recognition the Republic of Slovenia awards to members in the field of sport. In 2017, Dr. Kovač was also awarded the prestigious FIEP (Fédération Internationale d’Éducation Physique) Thulin Award for her lifelong contributions to the development of Physical Education, with archival press release available HERE

2020: Dr. Bojan Leskošek was recognised for his outstanding achievements in the field of children and youth sports by the National Association of Physical Education of Slovenia. The press release is available HERE

2016 SLOfit members were co-authors of one of the most cited paper on the world »Trends in adult body-mass index in 200 countries from 1975 to 2014«, prepared within cooperation in NCD Risk Factor Collaboration and published in the prestigious medical journal The Lancet.
